DOOR REPAIR AND ADJUSTMENT
Door Problems Usually Have a Deeper Cause
A door that sticks, drags, leaks, rattles, or refuses to latch may look like a simple adjustment issue. In many homes, the real problem can involve hinges, hardware wear, frame movement, settling, weather exposure, poor installation, damaged jambs, or changing seasonal conditions.
As a Door Repair and Adjustment Expert in South Texas, Denker & Denker evaluates the full door system, not just the symptom. The goal is to understand why the door is not performing correctly and make the right repair or adjustment for long-term use.
This approach matters most for custom wood doors, high-end residential doors, older doors, heavy doors, exterior doors, and doors where appearance and performance both matter.

CUSTOM WOOD DOORS
High-End Doors Need Careful Service
Custom wood doors are not standard parts. Their weight, finish, exposure, hardware, and surrounding frame conditions all affect how they perform. A quick adjustment may not solve the issue if the door is moving, swelling, settling, or wearing unevenly.
Denker & Denker provides careful service for custom wood and high-end residential doors where both performance and appearance matter. This may include hinge adjustment, latch correction, threshold review, finish-sensitive handling, hardware alignment, jamb repair, and weatherstripping support.
As a Door Repair and Adjustment Expert in South Texas, Denker & Denker understands that a door should not only close. It should feel solid, align correctly, seal properly, and look right within the home.
- Sticking or dragging doors
- Uneven reveals and gaps
- Latch or strike plate misalignment
- Door swelling or seasonal movement
- Loose hinges or worn screws
- Threshold and weatherstripping issues
- Entry door air leaks
- Custom door hardware concerns
- Frame or jamb damage
- Finish-sensitive repair needs
ALIGNMENT AND HARDWARE
Small Door Issues Can Create Daily Friction
A door that does not latch cleanly, rubs against the frame, requires force to close, or leaves uneven gaps creates daily frustration. Over time, poor alignment can also cause hardware wear, finish damage, air leaks, and frame stress.
Denker & Denker reviews the hinges, strike plate, latch, frame, threshold, door slab, and surrounding trim to determine the right correction. The repair may be simple, or it may require a more complete adjustment to restore proper operation.
This is where experience matters. The right adjustment preserves the door and prevents unnecessary replacement.
EXTERIOR DOOR PERFORMANCE
Exterior Doors Need to Handle Weather, Movement and Use
Exterior doors face heat, humidity, rain, sun exposure, wind, seasonal expansion, threshold wear, and daily use. When sealing or alignment fails, the result can be drafts, moisture intrusion, energy loss, noise, insects, and premature door or frame damage.
Denker & Denker provides door service that considers the full exterior door system, including weatherstripping, thresholds, sweeps, lock alignment, hinges, jamb conditions, and surrounding trim.
For high-end homes, the repair should improve performance while preserving the door’s appearance and architectural value.
FRAME AND OPENING REPAIR
Sometimes the Door Is Not the Main Problem
A door can only perform as well as the opening around it. If the frame is damaged, jambs are out of alignment, trim has shifted, hinges are pulling, or the opening was modified poorly, the door may never operate correctly until the underlying issue is addressed.
Denker & Denker evaluates door openings, jambs, casing, framing conditions, and prior installation work to determine what needs to be repaired or adjusted.
This is especially important for older homes, custom homes, heavy wood doors, and doors installed into modified openings.
OUR PROCESS
A Clear Process for Door Repair and Adjustment
We review the visible problem, door type, location, age, hardware, prior repairs, and homeowner concerns.
We assess the door slab, hinges, latch, strike plate, frame, jamb, threshold, trim, weatherstripping, and surrounding conditions.
We determine whether the problem is related to alignment, hardware, movement, frame conditions, weather exposure, installation quality, or damage.
We complete the appropriate correction, which may include adjustment, hardware correction, jamb repair, weatherstripping, or installation support.
We check swing, latch, gaps, seal, closure, hardware operation, and finished appearance.
WHY DENKER & DENKER
Door Repair Is Precision Work
A door can look simple, but the system is more complex than most people realize. Slab weight, hinges, jambs, hardware, frame movement, thresholds, weatherstripping, finish, and surrounding structure all affect performance.

Dear Mark,
It is rare to have such talented longtime parishioners within our church community who are
willing to donate both their time and materials in service to others. Our Mother’s Day Out
program simply could not provide all of the amenities that many larger daycare facilities are able
to offer, which made your generosity even more meaningful to us.
We were truly amazed when you volunteered to furnish all of the materials and construct a custom playground using treated lumber, while thoughtfully tying the new structure seamlessly into the existing building. The roof integration gives the entire project a natural “built-in” appearance, as though it had always been part of the original design of the facility.
The addition of the climbing gym was an exceptional enhancement, and it has been wonderful to see how much the children and staff enjoy the covered outdoor area. The shaded roof structure provides comfort and protection from the Texas heat, allowing the children to play more comfortably while helping the staff avoid constant concerns about excessive sun exposure and sunburn.
Your craftsmanship, imagination, and overall vision for the project far exceeded anything the program director had originally envisioned. The care and attention to detail you invested into this ministry project are clearly evident to everyone who sees and uses it. We are truly blessed to have parishioners like you who generously put their faith into action through ministries that directly benefit our church families and children. I am also grateful that you volunteer your time on the church counsel for hiring new employees. Your children are truly blessed to have a father that gives back to the community and to the Sacred Heart School.
Yours in Christ,
Father Hubert Kealy
