I was speaking with another parishioner at church about needing a patio cover built when Mark Denker’s daughter overheard the conversation. She told me, “My daddy is a carpenter, and he’s standing right over there.” Shortly afterward, Mark came over and spoke with my husband and me about the project.

We explained that we wanted a freestanding patio cover that would match the existing brick and roofing of our home. I specifically requested a framed ceiling fan centered in the structure, electrical outlets installed within the brick columns, exterior lighting, and the ability to operate the lights from inside the house.

Mark designed and constructed exactly what we envisioned. He installed a concrete slab that was substantially stronger than what many people would typically use for this type of structure. I also told him I did not want the unattractive angled bracing, commonly referred to as gussets, and instead wanted clean lines with fully bricked columns. Because of the strong winds we frequently experience in Plantersville, Texas — where normal wind gusts can average 15–25 mph and often much higher — Mark used heavy structural lumber and built the patio cover with durability and stability in mind.

Every detail was completed with care. He painted everything to perfectly match the existing home, and the finished project is absolutely beautiful. The time, craftsmanship, and attention to detail were outstanding. He gave us everything we asked for and more.

Since completing the patio cover, we have continued to call Mark for additional projects around our home. He repaired siding where the original builder had left exposed sheathing and matched both the siding and paint perfectly. He also installed a new kitchen light fixture that gave the room a much more modern appearance.

I would also like to emphasize that Mark is a perfectionist. He truly makes an extra effort to focus on every detail so that your project is as close to perfect as possible. I absolutely love my patio cover, and everyone who sees it stops for a moment and says, “WOW, this is just beautiful.”

I would highly recommend Mark Denker for any type of construction project, whether it involves new construction, additions, repairs, or remodeling work. His attention to detail, quality craftsmanship, and commitment to doing the job correctly are what continue to bring us back for future projects.

During that time, Denker & Denker provided specialized consulting, investigative, and quality assurance services involving roofing systems, waterproofing, building envelope failures, structural coordination, and
leak remediation. Their firm consistently demonstrated a high level of technical expertise and professionalism while assisting with several challenging building conditions and ongoing water intrusion issues.

Their work included detailed leak investigations, destructive testing, coordination with roofing manufacturers and contractors, development of waterproofing specifications, QA inspections, and oversight of corrective repairs involving roofing systems, window assemblies, masonry interfaces, and structural steel components. They were also instrumental during a warehouse office buildout project where maintaining the integrity of the existing roof warranty and resolving complex waterproofing concerns were critical to the success of the project.

One of the areas where Denker & Denker provided exceptional value was in identifying recurring water intrusion causes and coordinating practical corrective solutions while maintaining manufacturer warranty
compliance. Their documentation efforts, field investigations, and coordination with contractors and manufacturers helped ownership clearly understand both the source of deficiencies and the corrective measures necessary to resolve them.

Throughout our working relationship, Denker & Denker approached projects methodically, professionally, and with strong attention to detail. Their technical knowledge of building envelope systems and their ability to navigate difficult repair and warranty situations proved to be highly beneficial. Based on my experience, I would not hesitate to recommend Denker & Denker for consulting, investigative, waterproofing, roofing, and building envelope related services.

Dear Mark,
I wanted to take the time to express my sincere appreciation to you for your generosity and dedication to our church community. I honestly could not tell you the last time the interior of the church had been painted. However, in my more than 17 years here at Sacred Heart, I cannot recall any parishioner ever volunteering to undertake such a large project.

When you first approached me about repainting the church interior, it truly warmed my heart. The church was certainly in need of refreshing, although I must admit my first thought was, “I wonder if he realizes what he is volunteering for.” With our tight schedule of daily Masses, Spanish Masses, and church events, I initially thought accomplishing this project would be like juggling a circus.

Your assurance that you and your crew would work around the church’s schedule for all services and events immediately put my mind at ease. It also reminded me that the Lord truly works in mysterious ways, particularly when your friend arrived to work alongside your crew, even though he was neither a parishioner nor being compensated for his time.  My mind was also eased to know it would be completed before the upcoming spring wedding season.

Your donation of both labor and materials should serve as an example to others of what true ministry and stewardship look like. I talk about stewardship in my homilies; however, what we really need is more of this type of stewardship, a ministry that most never think about. I know your children attend school here, and I sincerely hope they recognize what a wonderful example they have in a father who gives back so generously to his church, school, and community.

The parishioners continually complimented not only the quality of the work performed, but also the cleanliness and professionalism maintained throughout the entire project. We are truly blessed to have you as a parishioner who is always willing to volunteer whenever help is needed. I also know our community deeply appreciates your continued hard work and dedication each year in helping organize and prepare for set up and take down of our annual Oktoberfest celebration.

It is rare to have such talented longtime parishioners within our church community who are willing to donate both their time and materials in service to others. Our Mother’s Day Out program simply could not provide all of the amenities that many larger daycare facilities are able to offer, which made your generosity even more meaningful to us.

We were truly amazed when you volunteered to furnish all of the materials and construct a custom playground using treated lumber, while thoughtfully tying the new structure seamlessly into the existing building. The roof integration gives the entire project a natural “built-in” appearance, as though it had always been part of the original design of the facility.

The addition of the climbing gym was an exceptional enhancement, and it has been wonderful to see how much the children and staff enjoy the covered outdoor area. The shaded roof structure provides comfort and protection from the Texas heat, allowing the children to play more comfortably while helping the staff avoid constant concerns about excessive sun exposure and sunburn.

Your craftsmanship, imagination, and overall vision for the project far exceeded anything the program director had originally envisioned. The care and attention to detail you invested into this ministry project are clearly evident to everyone who sees and uses it.

We are truly blessed to have parishioners like you who generously put their faith into action through ministries that directly benefit our church families and children.  I am also grateful that you volunteer your time on the church counsel for hiring new employees.  Your children are truly blessed to have a father that gives back to the community and to the Sacred Heart School.
